Life

Well, there are only two weeks until I have to wave goodbye to my Izzy and Layla and send them off to school all day long. It is going to be so weird having both of them gone all day. Addison is going to have a hard time with it. Last year when Izzy was gone we... I mean she still had Layla to play with for half the day and all day on mondays. Now she just has Donovan and I. I guess it will really be just the mornings that will be so different since she takes a nap after lunch. The school is a block and a half away so we will be walking them every morning. I just have to get back into that rythm of getting their lunches made the night before and getting them up early. Summer went by so fast and I still feel like Spring just arrived! Our trip to the Wisconsin Dells was fantastic and busy and the kids had an awesome time there with their grandparents and all their cousins. It will be a good memory for them.

I as well am starting school....again. As I am a little older and wiser I can appreciate it a lot more. For those of you who are not aware, I attended Kent State University right after high school but chose to leave after a year to get married and start our family, and then be a stay at home mom. During that first year of marriage I took online courses to receive a travel agent certificate, but since that time travel agents are becoming a rare species due to the internet. So I've made the decision to go back to school for several reasons.

1. The importance of college is something that my parents and particularly my dad ingrained in me from an early age. I'm excited to go back, get my bachelors and make my dad proud and fulfill something very important for me as well. He didn't just tell us that going to school was important, we needed to give it everything and do well. So I will probably send my daddy my report card still! If its a good one ;)

2.I don't see myself staying at home all day once my kids are all in school full time. I've always enjoyed working and being around people. I definitely want to only work the hours that they are gone, because like I said, I want to be with them. So it was an easy choice to go back to school to be a teacher. School hours, I'll be in the school system that they are (hopefully), keeping an eye on them, and have their vacation time.

3.In this day and age two incomes is a GOOD thing. I want to contribute, I want us to be able to travel with my husband and family, and do extras. Alex provides for us really well, but I would like to add a little extra.

4.I want to be able to help nurture and guide high school kids who may not have anyone paying attention to their lives. And I have always loved Spanish, so I'm off to become a high school Spanish teacher. My spanish teachers opened up a world to me that was amazing and I want to do the same.

Wish me Luck!

  1. Mari. I just have one thing to say. I am SO proud of you! It's no easy task to tackle school AND raise kiddos, but the rewards will be great! You're a rock star hon, and your kiddos are blessed to have you as their mama!
