More Jesus More Christmas

While I was in El Salvador last Summer I met an amazing woman.  She grew up in an orphanage that we visited, and then left and lived on the streets.  She overcame tremendous odds to come to believe in Jesus and is now working in a women's center, providing day care services.  At this women's center, they bring women in who don't have jobs, homes and can't feed their children.  They are taught various skills like jewelry.  This center helps at- risk women from being subjected to human trafficking, and from having to watch their children starve. Imagine, just imagine.... what would this feel like?

The woman doing the day care was in tears telling me about how all the children feel like her very own.  She loves them and takes care of the needs that she can, but what she is struggling most with, is having a place to lay the babes down for a nap.

Right now she has a hammock and a dilapidated portable crib from what I would guess as 1970.  The sides are collapsing, the metal is exposed and rusted, and the crib pad is torn and dirty.

I would love nothing more than to bring this woman some whole, safe, clean pack n' plays.  I am going to visit the  weekend of Nov. 3- Dec. 2.
Here is my dream.  I'm laying it out there, hoping for you my friends to care.  As we sit in our warm homes and wrap our kids up against the cold, our blessings rain down.

There is a giant sign in Walmart that says "More Christmas for Less Money."  Because that's what Christmas is about right? Buying more crap we don't need, so our kids can keep up with their fellow Jones-es.  This makes me physically upset.  If I weren't so tragically short, and fear arrest by the Wally security, I probably would have torn it down.

How about, "More Jesus, More Christmas?"  I'm longing for a Christmas that isn't about stuff.  No Black Friday, but Season of Advent.

So this Christmas, I am dreaming of taking down 2 pack n' plays to answer this woman's wish.  To show her, that her prayers can come true.

Do you have a pack n' play that you don't want or need anymore? Do you have the desire to buy one?  I need two, that are in good shape.
If you don't have one, that's ok! I would love it if you would donate a couple of dollars to pay the baggage fees to carry them down there.  Click on over to that ChipIn and then ask a friends to click over, and she can ask a friend.  If all of us gave $5, we can easily bless the women and children in La Libertad.  Lets lay down the American dream of a material Christmas, and give.

Matthew 25
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
